It’s that time of year again – time to renew your membership in Foggy City Dancers! 2011 was a year of transition as we took on Advanced for the first time! Square Dancing is on the move, and Foggy City is a big part of it’s future!

We held all sorts of events last year, from four successful dances, to our Pride Beer Booth, or that summertime favorite, the FCD Picnic, to some fun open house events, potlucks, raffles, and squaroling (still to come in Dec)! Foggy City Dancers is once again having a successful Advanced class with several squares of students and angels.

So, why do you want to renew?

  • Well, there’s the dancing – from our main club caller, Harlan Kerr, to our guest callers, Foggy City Dancers is hosting a wealth of fun and interesting callers this year.

  • FOUR Dances in 2012! Many produced jointly with Western Star Dancers

  • More fun, social events planned – We’re going to be doing some more guerrilla dance events, do some more potlucks and parties, more community outreach.

  • FUN, FUN, FUN!

We do need to find other fundraising opportunities.

How Can You Help?

There are plenty of easy volunteering activities, all the way from stepping up to be a member of the Board of Directors down to volunteering to set-up or break-down our dances and events.  No matter what task you decide to help with, we keep a can-do and fun attitude to make sure that all volunteers are having a great time!

What Else?

Your Board of Directors is committed to the growth and viability of Foggy City Dancers, and with your help and participation in this coming year, we will all keep Your Club fun and successful for you!

Dear Foggy Citizens and Friends!

Hot on the heels of moving into our new space in the Castro, we have several exciting announcements to make!

First, based on a number of factors the board has decided to expand the levels of dancing we offer as a club and we will now offer Advanced in addition to Mainstream & Plus.

Second, to help you get ready for Convention, we are announcing a series of three Convention Prep Workshops on Thu 19 Mar, Thu 26 Mar and Thu 02 Apr. These workshops are designed to help sharpen and polish your skills! For those not going to convention, we will be holding a no-dancing *Widows’ Night* pot luck on Thu 09 Apr.

Third, we will be dancing in the Pride Parade on Sun 28 Jun with Western Star Dancers to an all-girl live band on the back of the Good Vibrations float! We will need volunteers to dance, carry the banner and hand out flyers. If dancing on a flatbed truck or walking along side one is not for you, we will also have a booth both Saturday and Sunday where we will meet the public and take interested names for our upcoming FCD Stimulation Program.

Lastly, we will be enacting the afore mentioned FCD Stimulation Program designed to stimulate inactive members into action again and stimulate guests so they will become new dancers. This is planned to be a weekly series of naughty and fun evenings similar to last summer’s wildly successful Chase The Rainbow series, but including Intro activities for guests and Mainstream, Plus and Advanced tips for members.

Come get stimulated with Foggy City Dancers spring line up! It’s going to be a year of change and growth!!

And as a reminder, Foggy City Dancers have sent out their Membership Renewals. Please mail them in as soon as possible, or you can give it to any of your board members (Richard Perez, Steve Huggins, Paul Brown, John Grima).

If you did not receive a letter and would like to join, you can either download the form (2009 FCD Membership Form) and mail it in or join online at our new FCD Shop where you can also buy shirts, hats & badges: http://foggycity.org/shop

Thanks to all of you for your generous support!
